shipzero launches audited Book & Claim Solution for Logistics
shipzero has launched an audited Book & Claim solution for the transport and logistics industry. The system enables companies to reduce their transport emissions through the use of sustainable fuels – independent of local fuel availability.

"Book & Claim revolutionizes access to sustainable fuels in freight transport," says Tobias Bohnhoff, CEO of shipzero. "Companies can accelerate the availability of alternative drive technologies and reduce their own emissions faster – without geographical or carrier-specific constraints."
Independently audited by Müller-BBM Cert
What sets shipzero's solution apart: the Book & Claim methodology has been independently audited. The system was reviewed by environmental auditor Müller-BBM Cert for conformity with the Smart Freight Centre's "Voluntary Market Based Measures Framework for Logistics Emissions Accounting and Reporting." The validation confirms that shipzero's Book & Claim system enables the correct and effective implementation of assumptions, constraints, and procedures required to support individual Book & Claim programmes for shipzero users.
"This creates maximum transparency and trustworthiness – a decisive advantage for our customers," says Bohnhoff.
Successful pilot with named customers
Two leading companies successfully tested the solution during a multi-month pilot phase. European logistics provider Sovereign Speed uses HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) and can now track door-to-door emissions for its customers at shipment level through the jointly developed Book & Claim platform. Customers in turn receive a certificate from shipzero as an independent partner, documenting a reduction in their indirect Scope 3 transport emissions.
"shipzero's comprehensive solution allows us to offer HVO sustainably and efficiently across our European network – and thanks to Book & Claim, even where infrastructure availability has previously been limited," says Moritz Tölke, Director Strategic & Green Projects at Sovereign Speed.
Marken, the UPS-owned logistics provider, is also deploying the technology in partnership with shipzero. "Thanks to shipzero's Book & Claim approach, we can now allocate emission reductions directly at shipment level and map the complete documentation in a single system – from the proof of origin at the biofuel filling station through to the final, customer-specific emission reduction certificate and report," says Sandra Voss, Senior Manager Sustainability at Marken.
How Book & Claim works
The principle is straightforward: companies book the use of sustainable fuels – even if those fuels are physically deployed on different transport routes. The associated CO₂e reduction is credited to the booking company as a verified claim. A digital tracking system ensures no double counting is possible. shipzero manages the entire process – from capturing and verifying all fuel information, to allocating the CO₂e reduction, to issuing the certificates.
"Thanks to Book & Claim, logistics providers and cargo owners can reach their climate targets faster, without having to build complex infrastructure first," says Bohnhoff. Investments in sustainable measures thus have a directly verifiable effect.
